How do i become a mystery shopper?

I love to shop and need a lil part time job..any suggestions?

Mystery shopping is not just getting paid to go to stores and give your opinions. You are required to make specific observations and completed reports that are often quite detailed about your experience. However, if you are observant, detail-oriented and reliable, you might find mystery shopping to be a flexible and enjoyable way to make extra money. Apply to several mystery shopping companies. It is unlikely that one company will have enough work to keep you busy. Never pay a fee to apply. Legitimate mystery shopping company will not charge you to register with them. There is a list of nearly 200 legitimate secret shopping companies at:

Never cash a check and wire money to anyone you don’t know, as part of a “mystery shop” or for any other reason. Anyone who asks you to do this is a scammer. There is never a legitimate reason to do this. Good luck!

Become a Mystery shopper?

February 15th, 2010

does anyone know how to become a mystery shopper….i wanna make a few extra dollars and i was reading about mystery shopping….but most of them seem like they just take your money and that is it…does anyone know what that is not a scam??

or does anyone work for them??

I’ve tried it and either the pay wasn’t consistant or some places tried to get me to pay them a big up front fee!!

But if you are considering making money at home… I have found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and I made $900+ in December, $700+ in January, over $850 last month, and $1,300+ so far in March.

All these sites are free to join. Please click my screen name or avatar for more information and a link for proof of payment. And by the way–never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn’t need to charge you.

Do you have to pay to become a mystery shopper?

February 15th, 2010

Most ads I see for mystery shoppers require you to pay and register to get started. Is this the only way to become a mystery shopper?

Does anyone know of a company I can contact to get started that is reputable?
NO you do not have to pay to become a mystery shopper. I am one and I have never paid a dime to become one.

You get paid decent money but keep in mind, it’s work. If you do a restaurant shop or a store shop they usually require you to buy something (with your own money) but you will get reimbursed up to a set amount.

I do shops right now that average me about $20-$25/hour and I love it!! It’s great extra money and if you can write complete sentences and have a great eye for detail than I would check out mysteryshop.org – it’s the site for certified shoppers and companies (Mystery Shopping Providers Association).

There is where you will find ALL the information you need. Hope this helps and good luck!! let me know if you have any questions

Do You Work for GAPbuster as a Mystery Shopper?

February 4th, 2010

Do you, or have you ever worked for GAPbuster as a mystery shopper?

Just wondering if they are a reliable company to work for? How does it work with purchasing items? Do they pay you in advance to purchase items? How long does each ‘assignment’ take?

I know they answer this on the site, but I would like to hear from somebody who has real experience. Also, it says the average payment is $9-$16; does it often get any higher or lower than this? Thanks heaps!!

I am a registered mystery shopper for a number of different mystery shopper companies in Australia. Gapbuster is so rigorous in its pre-shop testing surveys, that you have to read a package for each of its major clients (ie, Australia Post, McDonalds) and then if you don’t get 100% accuracy in the on-line “test” you cannot accept a job for those particular clients.

I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, but have never managed to pass the exam because the questions are either badly written or ambiguous. I gave GAPBuster the big flick!

I prefer CBS, and have done more than 300 mystery shops for them since the start of the year. The income is not great, but you are are sent an email, telling you to check your job availablity on their website and then have the option of accepting or not. The jobs will be in areas that correspond to postcodes you have told them that you are available to work in.

Sometimes, you are required to make a purchase; sometimes you are just required to visit and collect a business card; sometimes it can be making a phone call and asking a number of questions and getting a name. If you are required to make a purchase (for example if you shop at a supermarket) then you are required to use your own money, and that amount is NOT refunded. You are paid the total cost of the shop, which generally means that any purchases you make, you are simply getting for free. Payment is usually made by direct deposit in the second Friday of the month following the month in which you made the mystery shop.

Each assignment takes about 30 minutes at the shop and then another 15 minutes entering the results on-line the same day as you do the shop. You must be able to scan and submit the receipt or business card and send it on-line as well. CBS pays between $12 and $25 per shop. Their customer support is fantastic and my pay is always in my bank account as promised. I make around $100 – $250 a month ($100 of which covers the cost of the groceries I have to buy and submit receipts for, but they are always things that I would have purchased anyway).

How Can I Get a Job as a Mystery Shopper?

February 4th, 2010

When I’ve worked in shops, etc. in the past I was always told about mystery shoppers who may come in to rate the customer service etc.

I’m interested in becoming a mystery shopper to earn a little extra money, but I don’t know how to start. I’ve searched the internet but haven’t been able to find anything.

A friend of my mother was a mystery shopper but she moved away a few years ago and have lost contact. Does anyone have any idea how I can do this?

These jobs do exist. I have done many shops.

They are not easy money, but can work well for you if you have good attention to detail, don’t mind completing paperwork, don’t miss deadlines and want a flexible schedule.

How old do you have to be to become a secret shopper?

My dad just got a job as being a secret shopper and I was thinking that maybe I could do it too. So how old do you have to be to become a secret shopper? Also if you could give me a list of places that need secret shoppers that would be amazing!!!

I don’t have a list, but you have to be at least 16.

I would like to know if the Secret Shopper jobs are real?

January 31st, 2010

I always see them in the penny saver and some of the news papers. I am interrested in doing that type of work. If you have real info please let me know.

I was an active member of a Mystery Shopper company. I was laid off and looking for FT work, so I joined this outfit to get a few dollars to tide me over. The assignments are difficult to get because lots of people are competing for the work, and the only ones I could get were at odd times and far from home, so I had to burn quite a bit of gas to get there, plus time. You are usually given a specific task, and a limited amount of money to make a simple purchase.

Once you complete the purchase, you must send them a full and detailed report within 24 hours, or your shop is disqualified from reimbursement.

I usually complete the report in the parking lot to remember all the things I saw and heard inside. Then you submit the report and reimbursement paperwork, and wait like 2 weeks for your check. The check is usually for the amount you spend, plus $5 – $8.

I would do about one shop every week ( sometimes 2 shops ), so I was earning about $20- $50 a month!! And burning up $10 of gas to do so. Not to mention time wasted on the road. But it got me out of the house, and helped me not to get depressed sitting at home waiting for interview phone calls. In that respect, I was happy to do the shops. Once I got a full time job, I was real happy to say farewell to this.

can i become a secret shopper without spending my own money to buy things?

October 19th, 2009

im looking for a job as a secret shopper. but i have no money to pay for things out of pocket and be reimbursed. i have a friend that was sent gift cards to do the shopping. i want to find a job like that. can anyone help me out?

I don’t think you actually have to pay with your own money, but these type of jobs aren’t that stable and don’t pay much, it would be better for you to just get a job in retail or something like that instead of wasting your time with secret shopping.
